Trading Underwriter - Salary is competitive depending on experience

Location - Birmingham

As a Trading Underwriter, you will be responsible for servicing brokers, underwriting new business, renewals, and MTAs. This role is ideal for someone with a broking or underwriting background who is passionate about career development.

You will manage a portfolio of brokers/customers to proactively grow their commercial book of business, partnering with them to understand their needs and using data insights to provide comprehensive customer solutions.

This role requires travel to broker visits across the Midlands or the South West, so flexibility is essential.

About the job:

• Operate as a multiclass underwriter within agreed guidelines to profitably grow the book, including motor disciplines.
• Build confidence and relationships through face-to-face meetings with brokers and customers.
• Manage end-to-end dealings with brokers and customers.
• Align with Aviva’s SME strategy and develop understanding of the commercial business.
• Participate in Aviva’s training programs and career development opportunities, including broker development, surveys, and client meetings.

Skills and experience required:

• Previous property & liability or motor underwriting experience; broker experience considered.
• Ability to analyze risks and communicate effectively.
• Collaborative work style within a large organization.
• Knowledge of FCA regulations and relevant legislation.
• Strong commercial acumen to create and deliver business cases.
