Trading Operations Specialist – Systematic Equities
Central London · 4 days a week in the office · Full-time · Highly competitive package
A leading global multi-strategy hedge fund is hiring a Trading Operations Specialist for its systematic equities team in London. You'll keep a fully automated global equities trading platform running smoothly, fix problems in real time, and use AI tools and code to automate away recurring issues.
This is a desk-facing role. You'll sit at the centre of the trading process, working directly with portfolio managers, quant researchers, engineers and brokers.
What you'll do
- Monitor live trading through the day and investigate and resolve issues as they happen: order rejects, execution breaks, broker connectivity problems, and position or P&L discrepancies.
- Manage short locates and borrow availability so the strategies can trade as intended.
- Monitor systematic risk and escalate exceptions quickly and clearly.
- Work with brokers and prime brokers to resolve trade, connectivity and settlement-impacting issues.
- Find recurring operational problems and automate them away, using AI tools and/or Python.
- Help improve the end-to-end trade flow as the platform scales.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years in equities operations: trade support, middle office, trading assistant, or trading or execution operations at a bank, hedge fund or trading firm.
- Strong understanding of the equities trade lifecycle: cash equities, swaps/CFDs, Delta One or equity finance.
- Proven experience fixing live issues during market hours, not just next-day reconciliation.
- Hands-on use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude or similar) to automate or improve processes. Python and SQL are a strong plus.
- Calm under pressure, with clear communication across trading, technology and external counterparties.
- Wants a long-term career in trading operations.
Nice to have
- Exposure to securities lending, stock borrow or short locates.
- Experience with FIX, OMS/EMS platforms or systematic/quant trading environments.
Why apply
- A high-impact seat on a growing systematic team at a top-tier fund.
- Real scope to automate and shape how the desk runs.
- Highly competitive base and bonus.
