IN SHORT

You’ll be the functional leader for ETRM delivery within Trading IT. This is a hands-on, visible role with direct impact on high-value trading across European energy markets.

What You Will Do

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to drive meaningful change and set the pace for ETRM strategy and delivery. You’ll help shape the future of our trading technology landscape in a team that values agility, clear outcomes, and bold thinking. If you want ownership, influence, and the chance to solve complex challenges at the heart of an industry leader, this is the right step.

We work in an agile environment and in an industry that is always evolving. The ability to deliver functional capabilities that add business value quickly is essential. You need to understand the difference between tactical and strategic delivery and know how to balance both to get the best out of our stakeholders and your team.

  • Own all functional and non-functional changes within your vertical. You can delegate, but you stay accountable for quality.
  • Validate cross-vertical changes and make sure every analysis and set of acceptance criteria meet our standards. When there’s a major change, you’ll assess the impact, give high-level estimates, and communicate clearly with stakeholders—your work shapes business decisions.
  • Manage the backlog, working with delivery and technical leads to make sure the highest-value work gets delivered at pace.
  • Keep an up-to-date view of all systems and processes in your area and help develop business cases that balance stakeholder priorities, technical direction, cost, and benefit.
  • Partner with Trading, Sales, Middle Office, and Back Office, turning real business needs into deliverable requirements. You’re the main link between IT delivery and the business—nothing goes into production until users confirm it’s right. You’ll organise and support user acceptance testing, gather feedback, and make sure everything is signed off before go-live.
  • Keep a close eye on projects across the business, identifying risks and dependencies before they become issues, and making sure the ETRM vertical keeps moving forward.
  • Work directly with Technical Leads and Solution Architects to align on roadmaps and annual plans. You’ll lead a team of BAs, Developers, and QAs in the UK and Europe, setting the tone for quality and collaboration. You’ll also have line management responsibility for BAs in other delivery verticals, mentoring and building a high-performing team of future leaders. Office attendance is at least two days a week—expect real interaction, not just remote delivery.

What You Will Bring

  • You know the energy trading industry inside out—this is non-negotiable. You’ve worked with Natural Gas and Power, both physical and financial trading, and understand the reality of the deal lifecycle. You have proven experience as a Business Analyst in ETRM or energy trading and know how to get the best out of an ETRM system across front, middle, and back office.
  • If you’ve delivered major ETRM upgrades or implementations—especially using ION’s OpenLink v18 or v25—this is a big advantage.
  • You can lead teams across locations, keep competing priorities on track, and influence outcomes at every level. You write and communicate clearly, deliver high-quality documentation, and make sure the business is bought in before anything goes live. You’re hands-on with cloud and modern tech, own the backlog, and know how to push delivery in a fast-moving, change-heavy environment. You’re organised, pragmatic, and aren’t afraid to challenge or change course if that’s what’s needed.
  • Degree (or equivalent ideally in a numerate subject or computing related subject).
