Job description

Track Legal is working with a highly regarded full service law firm looking to recruit an experienced Senior Trade Mark Paralegal / Trade Mark Administrator into its established intellectual property practice.

The team advises an impressive client base across media, entertainment, fashion, technology, consumer brands and the wider creative industries, making this a particularly interesting role for someone who enjoys working with high-profile brands and businesses.

This is a genuinely substantive role for someone with strong trade mark experience who is comfortable managing matters with a high degree of autonomy and wants exposure beyond purely portfolio administration.

The Role

Working closely with partners and senior lawyers, you will support across a broad range of UK, EU and international trade mark matters, including:

  • UKIPO, EUIPO and WIPO filings and prosecution
  • Trade mark renewals, assignments and recordals
  • Clearance searches and preliminary availability advice
  • Preparing and filing applications, oppositions and related documentation
  • Monitoring deadlines and managing trade mark databases
  • Corresponding directly with clients, overseas counsel and trade mark offices
  • Supporting lawyers on contentious trade mark matters, including oppositions, invalidity and infringement disputes
  • Preparing evidence bundles, chronologies and supporting documentation
  • Assisting with settlement discussions and contentious proceedings where required
The Candidate

The firm is looking for someone with significant experience gained within a recognised IP or trade mark practice.

You are likely to have:

  • Strong experience as a Trade Mark Administrator or Trade Mark Paralegal.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK and international trade mark filing and prosecution procedures
  • Experience managing trade mark portfolios independently
  • Strong organisational skills and an excellent understanding of deadlines and procedural requirements
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients and overseas associates
  • Ideally, previous exposure to contentious trade mark work, particularly oppositions, cancellation proceedings or infringement matters

CITMA qualifications would be welcomed but are not essential where there is strong practical experience.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected specialist practice offering sophisticated IP work and direct involvement with senior lawyers and clients.

The role would particularly suit someone who has developed strong trade mark administration expertise but wants a position with greater responsibility, client contact and contentious exposure.
