Job summary

Onward Repairs seeks a Trade Supervisor - Repairs in Liverpool to lead a multi-skilled team delivering high-quality property repairs. Travel to sites within the Merseyside area will be required, with a UK driving license essential.

Qualifications

  • City and Guilds Craft Certificate within a trade or equivalent construction qualification.
  • CSCS card held.
  • COSHH & PPE training desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery: assess, coordinate and support cost-effective repairs, organise materials, communicate with customers and stakeholders.
  • Inspections: conduct pre-inspections, oversee sub-contractors, inspect empty homes to scope repairs.
  • Customer service: provide excellent service and meet standards.
  • Liaison and technical advice: advise clients and colleagues on access, safety, and progress.
  • Quality: ensure high standards and respond to complaints within timescales.
  • Records: update systems with job details, materials and progression.
  • Health and Safety: enforce safety requirements and conduct site inspections.
  • Work Equipment: ensure safe use and maintenance of vehicles and tools.

As Trade Supervisor - Repairs, you will lead a team of multi-skilled operatives delivering high-quality repairs across Liverpool. Reporting to the Repairs Manager, you will ensure all work meets safety, performance, and customer service standards. This full-time role offers a salary of £37,250 per annum and 37 hours per week. You will coordinate daily schedules, inspect completed jobs, and manage resources efficiently. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills are essential, alongside knowledge of building repairs. About The Role

We're growing our Onward Repairs team and investing in our in‑house service to deliver excellent repairs and maintenance across the Merseyside area. We’re looking for a Trade Supervisor - Repairs to join our growing Onward Repairs team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic and expanding business, delivering high-quality property maintenance services. The purpose of this role is to Support the delivery of property maintenance services in line with all group standards and key performance indicators. Ensuring high standards are consistently met together with observing all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements while undertaking repair activities within customer’s homes, empty properties and for other clients as required. A full UK driving license is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivery In line with Repairs specification or approved best practice, assess, coordinate and support the undertaking of the most cost effective repair solution delivering value for money. Organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service, including carrying out repair work on site as required. Ensure an adequate store of materials are available to operatives, including van based stock. Proactively assist in organising their workload to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.
  • Inspections Undertake new pre inspections to plan any repair to either our direct labour team or to sub-contractor. Manage or oversee any repairs issued to sub-contractors including pre and post inspection. Undertake pre term inspections on our empty homes with neighbourhood colleagues to inspect to create a scope of repair requirements. Undertake empty home inspections to schedule a scope of repairs that are required to bring the property up to Onwards lettable standard.
  • Customer Service To provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.
  • Liaison and technical advice Liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs.
  • QualityEnsure that all work is delivered to a high standard. Follow up any customer complaints in a timely manner and in line with the organisation response timescales.
  • Records Complete jobs on the computer system and maintain other records as required including adding/varying SOR’s, access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.
  • Health and Safety Ensure that all work activities are undertaken in line with all health and safety requirements demonstrating a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices. Carry out Site Safety Inspections and assist in the promotion of Health & Safety.
  • Work Equipment Support the safe use of light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures, including the reporting of HAV’s exposure. To be responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated Company vehicles.
  • Line Management Provide line management cover to the team in the absence of the Team Leader, managing resources to ensure that objectives are achieved, including carrying out repair work on site when required.
  • Internal Partnership Working Ensure collaborative working to deliver required service levels across the region.
Skills/Experience
  • Essential: Sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations, including a trade background.
  • Essential: Experience of working in a customer focussed service.
  • Essential: Proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service.
  • Essential: Experience of working in a target driven environment.
  • Essential: Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, regulation and ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974.
  • Desirable: Supervisory experience and experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.
  • Desirable: Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.
  • Desirable: Experience of using PDA technology (hand held/mobile working technology).
Qualifications
  • Essential: City and Guilds Craft Certificate within a trade discipline or equivalent construction related qualification.
  • Essential: Appropriate CSCS card.
  • Desirable: Hold relevant health & safety qualifications which relate to the sector/construction industry in general.
  • Desirable: Asbestos awareness training.
  • Desirable: Relevant power tool / manual handling training.
  • Desirable: Appropriate and current training in COSHH & PPE.
  • Desirable: Access equipment and working at height training e.g. mobile work platforms.
SSSTS

The role involves participation in an ' out of hours' standby service on a rota basis as required, which includes evenings and weekend work. This is in addition to the contractual hours for which you will receive additional pay and compensation, details of which will be discussed at the interview.
