Tier 1 Hedge Fund is seeking a Trade Assistant (TA) to support its growing investment desk, working closely with Portfolio Managers, Risk, Treasury, and external counterparties.

The role starts with classic TA duties, gaining visibility to PMs to learn the strategy and product suite; over time it will expand into risk analysis, P&L/valuations, and pre-trade market analysis and colour. This is an on-site London-based opportunity with strong exposure to senior desks.

Tier 1 Hedge Fund is looking to attract a Trade Assistant (TA) to support its growing investment desk.

Working closely with Portfolio Managers (PM’s), Risk, Treasury, and external counterparties, you will gain broad exposure across trading, portfolio management, performance analysis, and risk oversight.

The role will initially cover classic TA duties, taking full advantage of the visibility to the Portfolio Managers (PM’s) in order to learn the strategy and the product suite in detail, what this fund trades is highly complex. Over time, this role will then cover the more technical risk analysis, P&L/valuations and pre trade market analysis and colour.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage trade booking, matching, and allocation processes.
• Support portfolio management activities, including strategy-driven trade maintenance and adjustments.
• Record and maintain trade data to support Best Execution requirements.

Treasury & Operational Oversight

• Perform daily controls across portfolio positions, treasury activities, foreign exchange management, and share class hedging.
• Monitor market liquidity, positions, rolls and exposures
• Work closely with outsourced Operations and Treasury providers to identify, investigate, and resolve issues.
• Liaise with counterparties, administrators, and internal stakeholders to resolve operational, valuation, and data-related queries.

Performance & Reporting

• Produce and validate daily P&L reporting across portfolio, trading, and treasury activities.
• Investigate and explain material P&L movements, providing meaningful insights to Portfolio Managers and Risk teams.
• Support performance attribution analysis and reporting.
• Produce and maintain daily and periodic risk reporting across the firm's investment strategies.
• Monitor portfolio exposures, sensitivities, and key risk metrics across multiple asset classes.
• Support ongoing risk oversight and provide analysis to assist investment decision-making.

Experience Required

• Hedge Fund experience within TA/middle office, trading support, looking to step up into a more complex desk facing role.
• Steer towards the more junior end/coming up the curve at 2-5 years experience.
• Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle and investment operations processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to investigate complex issues and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Top level academics with a preference for STEM.
