Job summary

Bauer Media Outdoor UK is seeking a Planning Manager to join the Portfolio team and drive our nationwide planning activity for advertising locations.

You'll provide expert planning advice, secure planning permissions and advertisement consents, and coordinate with local authorities and external consultants. The role emphasises collaboration, market research and ensuring compliance with planning regulations while supporting our digital strategy and wider portfolio goals.

Qualifications

• Chartered MRTPI membership for eligibility and credibility.
• Experience in planning development teams in either public or private sectors.
• Minimum two years in planning consultancy, private business or council planning department.
• Thorough practical knowledge of planning law and regulations.
• Familiarity with control of advertisements regulations and planning procedures.

Responsibilities

• Providing planning expertise and strategic support to the Portfolio team.
• Preparing and submitting planning permission and advertisement consent applications with complete information.
• Preparing appeal statements and presenting at planning hearings when required.
• Building relationships with local authority planning departments and representing Bauer Media Outdoor professionally.
• Maintaining planning records and coordinating with external planning consultants.

We’re looking for a Town Planning Manager to join our Portfolio team and play a significant role in delivering our digital strategy.

What you’ll be doing…

As a Planning Manager, you’ll be responsible for securing planning permissions and advertisement consents for new and existing advertising locations. You’ll provide expert planning advice across the business, helping us develop our nationwide digital advertising presence and deliver our wider portfolio objectives.

Working closely with your fellow Planning Managers and colleagues across the business, you’ll prioritise planning applications and appeals to support our site development programme and business strategy.

You’ll also be responsible for:

• Providing planning expertise and support to the Portfolio team and other departments as required.
• Preparing and submitting accurate, timely applications for planning permission and advertisement consent, ensuring all required information is included.
• Preparing appeal statements and presenting at planning hearings where required.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with local authority planning departments, including those in key cities, and representing Bauer Media Outdoor professionally at meetings.
• Maintaining and updating the department’s planning records.
• Liaising with external planning consultants when required.
• Researching new and existing development locations to inform planning activity.
• Negotiating constructively with external bodies to resolve disputes relating to existing locations.
• Undertaking market research, monitoring competitor activity and reviewing planning legislation to identify risks and opportunities for the business.

Who are you?

You’ll be a knowledgeable planning professional with a thorough practical understanding of planning law and regulations. You’ll combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, solutions-focused approach, helping colleagues navigate planning requirements and supporting successful outcomes.

You’ll need:

• Chartered Town Planning Membership (MRTPI).
• Experience working within a planning development team in either the public or private sector.
• A minimum of two years’ experience working in a planning consultancy, private business or council planning department.
• A thorough practical knowledge of planning law and regulations.
• Familiarity with the control of advertisements regulations, planning legislation and associated procedures.
