About the Role

As a Planning Consultant, you will provide expert planning advice across a range of development projects. Working alongside a highly experienced team, you will support complex projects, develop your skills, and take on increasing responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver high-quality planning advice on diverse development projects.
  2. Support senior team members on complex projects.
  3. Provide planning guidance to other areas of the business.
  4. Manage planning instructions that will develop in complexity as your skills grow.
Your Role Will Involve:
  1. Conducting diligent research and analysis.
  2. Advising on development proposals that align with client objectives.
  3. Assessing risks and opportunities within the planning system.
  4. Recommending strategies for planning applications and local development plans.
  5. Coordinating external consultant teams and internal advisors.
  6. Liaising with local planning authorities and third parties.
  7. Communicating proposals effectively in writing and verbally.
  8. Negotiating on behalf of clients to achieve optimal outcomes.
  9. Maintaining adherence to project timelines and deliverables.
  10. Managing invoicing and debt professionally.
Qualifications & Skills:

Essential:

  1. Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (Planning & Development) or close to qualification.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Enthusiastic, ambitious, and a team player.

Desirable:

  1. Practical experience in both development management and development plan processes.
  2. Public sector (local planning authority) experience.
