Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a leading planning consultancy in Cambridge to appoint an experienced Town Planner. The role offers exposure to a varied project portfolio and opportunities for professional development and long-term progression.

You will work within a collaborative team, liaising with clients, authorities and consultants to deliver successful planning outcomes and strategic advice. A strong UK planning background and MRTPI or progress towards chartership are preferred.

Qualifications

• MRTPI qualification or working towards chartership.
• Experience in planning consultancy or local authority.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Commercial awareness and client liaison experience.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Preparing planning appraisals for land, buildings and development proposals.
• Undertaking planning policy research, site assessments and analysis.
• Preparing and submitting pre-application enquiries, planning applications and appeals.
• Drafting planning statements and other supporting documentation.
• Contributing to Design and Access Statements, Sustainability Statements and reports.
• Managing a varied portfolio of projects and ensuring work is delivered within timescales.
• Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities, consultees and stakeholders.
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients and industry contacts.
• Attending and presenting at client meetings, public consultations and committees.
• Developing practical and commercially focused planning strategies.
