Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Town Planner to join our Newcastle office. You will work on a broad range of residential, commercial, mixed-use and regeneration schemes, advising on the full planning process from applications to client management.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team and contribute to high-profile projects across the North East and wider UK. A degree in Town Planning and MRTPI status are preferred, with strong report writing and a proactive client-focused

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning (or equivalent) and MRTPI status or currently pursuing chartership.
• Experience in consultancy or local authority settings is essential.
• Strong report writing and communication skills are required.
• Commercial awareness and proactive client service are important.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
• Undertaking site appraisals and planning research.
• Liaising with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
• Assisting with strategic planning advice and project delivery.

We're working with a highly respected independent planning consultancy looking to appoint a Town Planner to join their growing Newcastle office. This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with consultancy or local authority experience who is looking to work on a broad range of high-profile projects across the North East and wider UK.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and well-established team advising on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, leisure and regeneration schemes. You'll be involved in all aspects of the planning process, from preparing applications and planning appraisals through to managing client relationships and supporting project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
• Undertaking site appraisals and planning research
• Liaising with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders
• Assisting with strategic planning advice and project delivery
• Supporting senior team members on major development projects
• Attending meetings, committee hearings and public consultations where required

Requirements:

• Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
• MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership
• Previous experience within a consultancy or local authority environment
• Strong report writing and communication skills
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service
• Ability to manage workloads and deadlines effectively
