Trowbridge Town Council is seeking a dynamic Town Clerk to oversee council functions and ensure effective management within legal frameworks. Trowbridge Town Council are seeking to appoint a dynamic, forward-thinking individual for the role of Town Clerk.
The clerk will be the proper officer of the council and is under a statutory duty to conduct all the functions of the council ensuring that the administration and management of the council’s affairs are conducted effectively within the required legal framework. The clerk must advise the council on and assist in formulating overall policies and ensure that the council acts only within its legal powers.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong demonstrable leadership skills. They will have experience of strategic thinking and planning, as well as experience of building partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders.
Trowbridge is a large town in the unitary authority of Wiltshire with a population of approximately 40,000 residents. The council’s precept for 2025/26 is £3,493,338. Trowbridge Town Council has a newly elected council of 21 councillors representing seven wards. The council employs over 60 officers, and is responsible for delivering a broad range of services including management of The Civic Centre, leisure services, a range of outdoor community events, and an accredited Museum, as well as, allotments, cemeteries, grounds maintenance.
