Job Title: Toolroom Technician
Location: Oldbury
Hours of work: 37 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm, 7.30am to 12.30pm.
Salary: Excellent package including basic plus overtime, negotiable depending on experience
The Role
The successful applicant must demonstrate hands‑on experience within a busy Toolroom environment, with the ability to work under pressure and deliver day‑to‑day production activities efficiently, working with a team to provide both manufacture of new parts and conduct repairs and maintenance to support various manufacturing divisions.
Responsibilities
- Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard
- Operate a Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production – training will be provided
- Ensure manufacture is covered in a timely manner so that try‑out dates are met
- Ensure breakdowns are covered in a timely manner so that production downtime is kept to a minimum
- Aim for a "right first time" approach to all work carried out
- Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and, when additional support is needed, agree timescales and costs
- Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and company rules and procedures
- Follow verbal and written instructions and work to set out procedures
- Seek continuous improvement related to the business KPIs and, as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business
Person Specification
- Experience with CNC and manual machine work including surface grinding, milling, turning, fixturing and wire EDM
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings and work to tolerances as specified
- Well organised, multi‑skilled, self‑motivated, and professional
- Good timekeeping and attendance
- Responsible for achieving personal and team key objectives
- Able to prioritise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Computer literate and able to communicate and record information effectively
- Able to communicate at all levels and have a "can do" attitude
- Willing to progress skillset on new equipment and machining methods
