Job summary

Genuit Group is seeking a skilled Tooling Technician in Doncaster to maximise department productivity by maintaining and repairing tooling to high standards. You will handle inspections, tool changes, and servicing to ensure quality parts and minimal downtime.

The role requires experience with conventional machines, reading engineering drawings, and preventative maintenance on tooling. A strong focus on safety and accuracy supports our production goals across the UK.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate conventional machines (lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, band saws) and bench work.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and measure parts accurately.
• Metallurgical understanding and materials strength knowledge.
• Experience in preventative maintenance on production tooling.
• Familiar with micrometres, dial indicators, height gauges and bore micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out tool checks to ensure correct inserts, date stamps and production quality.
• Minimise machine downtime by addressing press breakdowns and replacing worn parts.
• Change inserts and cores, and prepare tools for production runs.
• Strip down, rebuild and service tooling, replacing worn components as needed.
• Log and review tool issues, and repair where possible.
• Turn new parts (angle pins, core pins) and polish tooling pieces.
• Assess moulded or extruded parts to decide required improvements.
• Perform date engraving changes and replace faulty hot runner components when needed.
• Strip, repair, polish, machine and rebuild extrusion tooling to the required standard.
