Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking an experienced Toolmaker for its South Wales operation in Tredegar. The role involves diagnosing faults, repairing and rebuilding injection mould tools, and performing precision machining to tight tolerances.

You will join a skilled team, support new tool introductions and share expertise with developing Toolmakers. The position is permanent, days-based with regular Friday finish times, and offers an attractive salary aligned with experience (£38,000–£45,000).

Qualifications

• Requires a recognised Toolmaking apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience maintaining, repairing and modifying precision tooling, ideally in plastic injection moulding.
• Strong manual machining and precision fitting skills and ability to read engineering drawings.
• Experience stripping, inspecting and rebuilding mould tools with understanding of components and operation.
• Ability to diagnose tooling faults and implement practical solutions, not just component replacement.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults with injection mould tools and related tooling.
• Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild mould tools and components.
• Use manual machining and precision fitting to meet tolerances.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance and Engineering to resolve tooling issues affecting quality and performance.
• Support introduction of new mould tools with preparation and ongoing improvement.
• Share knowledge with less experienced colleagues and apprentices.
