Job summary

Recruit Mint in Peterborough is seeking a Toolmaker (manual or CNC) to join a skilled manufacturing team. You will manufacture, modify and repair tooling from engineering drawings and customer specs, with the opportunity to tailor your role to your skills.

You will work from drawings, produce high-quality components to close tolerances, and collaborate with design, manufacturing and assembly teams. A varied engineering workload and daytime hours enhance this role.

Qualifications

• Experience as Toolmaker, Precision Machinist, or similarly skilled engineer.
• Strong manual or CNC machining skills.
• Ability to work accurately from engineering drawings.
• Experience producing components to close tolerances.
• Understanding of engineering materials, machining methods and workshop practices.
• Confidence using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Ability to work independently and solve practical engineering problems.
• Reliable and quality-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, modify, repair and maintain precision tooling and components from drawings and specs.
• Operate manual or CNC milling, turning and other machine tools.
• Produce one-off and small-batch components to tight tolerances.
• Carry out tooling modifications, repairs and refurbishment work.
• Set and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment.
• Identify and resolve machining, tooling and dimensional issues.
• Work with design, manufacturing and assembly colleagues.
• Ensure work meets quality and delivery standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
