Job summary

Amcor’s Burgh St Peter site is seeking a Toolroom Technician to manufacture and maintain tooling, supporting production units with expert engineering input. You will operate a range of machines, focusing on milling and turning, while ensuring safety, quality, and housekeeping standards are met.

You will work with Hurco and Fanuc CNC programming knowledge, collaborate with colleagues, and take accountability for continuous improvement initiatives in the Toolroom.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Clear and proven engineering skills.
  • Milling and turning experience.
  • CNC machining competence (Hurco and Fanuc preferred).
  • Ability to work on own initiative and take accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture new tooling using all types of machine, tools and equipment.
  • Maintain existing tooling and provide engineering support to production areas.
  • Adhere to health and safety, quality and environment procedures.
  • Keep work area clean, tidy and safe according to company standards.
  • Support continuous improvement and respond to tooling needs from Toolroom customers.

Job description

  • To manufacture new tooling using all types of machine, tools and equipment.
  • To maintain existing tooling and provide engineering support to all production areas as required.
  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, quality and environment management.
  • Ensure that your work area is clean, tidy and safe following good housekeeping Company Standards.
  • The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibilities entailed. Such variations are a common occurrence would not themselves justify the revaluation of the post. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification..
  • Clear and proven experience in a technical environment.
  • Clear and proven engineering skills.
  • Milling and turning experience.
  • Competence of CNC machining (Preferable Hurco and Fanuc software experience)
  • Ability to work on own initiative to achieve objectives and taking accountability for duties/actions undertaken.
  • Confident in challenging existing practices and looking for continuous improvement in all areas.
  • Ability to communication effectively, verbally and in writing with colleagues and Toolroom customers.
