Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Shift Supervisor to ensure maintenance, machine setup and production tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Perform tool changes, colour changes, machine setups, and parameter setting on all assigned machinery.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and TPM activities as scheduled.
  • Identify and report faults and opportunities for improvement; support reduction of machine downtime through effective troubleshooting.
  • Complete production, quality, maintenance and machine setup documentation in real time.

Hours of Work: 12-hour rotating shifts (36/48/36 pattern)

Job Purpose

To provide technical support to the Shift Supervisor, ensuring that all planned and unplanned maintenance, machine setup, and production-related activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company, customer, quality, and regulatory standards.

Compliance, Health & Safety

Responsibilities

· Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with current legislation, company policies, and site procedures.

· Promote and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety compliance.

· Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.

· Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

KPIs

· Zero lost-time Health & Safety incidents per quarter.

· 100% completion of mandatory safety, quality, and environmental checks.

· 100% compliance with site audit requirements.

· No major non-conformances identified during audits.

Machine & Equipment Management

Responsibilities

· Perform tool changes, colour changes, machine setups, and condition setting on all assigned machinery.

· Ensure machine settings comply with approved production specifications.

· Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities as scheduled.

· Identify and report equipment faults, abnormalities, and improvement opportunities.

· Support the reduction of machine downtime through effective troubleshooting and maintenance.

KPIs

· Tool change completion within agreed standard times.

· 100% adherence to machine setup specifications.

· 100% completion of scheduled TPM activities.

· Machine downtime reduced by 3% compared with the previous quarter.

Operational Excellence

Responsibilities

· Complete all duties in accordance with approved work instructions and Safe Systems of Work.

· Maximise machine efficiency and output while maintaining product quality standards.

· Minimise waste, scrap, and rework through effective machine operation and process control.

· Maintain professional working standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

KPIs

· Zero unauthorised deviations from documented procedures.

· Daily production targets achieved or exceeded.

· Scrap and rework rate maintained at ≤ 3%.

· Active participation in continuous improvement activities.

Documentation & Reporting

Responsibilities

· Accurately complete all production, quality, maintenance, and machine setup documentation.

· Ensure records are completed in real time and meet traceability requirements.

· Communicate machine performance, quality issues, and shift handover information effectively.

KPIs

· 100% document completion and accuracy.

· All shift reports submitted before shift end.

· Zero documentation-related compliance findings during audits.

· 100% completion of shift handover requirements.

Teamwork & Support

Responsibilities

· Provide technical assistance and guidance to operators and other non-technical personnel.

· Support colleagues and departmental objectives to ensure production requirements are achieved.

· Respond positively to operational priorities and changing business needs.

· Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management.

· Attend and complete all required training and development activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours

· Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.

· Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

· Experience of Injection Stretch Blow M moulding (ISBM) processes.

· Experience setting and optimising machines, tooling, and associated production equipment.

· Experience within a plastics, packaging, or FMCG manufacturing environment.

· Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, TPM, or similar operational excellence programmes.

Essential Qualifications

· Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Technical qualification.
