Job description

A Toolmaker opportunity is now available within a respected engineering business renowned for its expertise in press tool design, maintenance, and precision machining. With a long-standing presence in the UK manufacturing sector, the company upholds high standards of safety, quality, and craftsmanship. This role offers a competitive hourly rate, optional overtime, sociable daytime hours, generous pension scheme contribution, 33 days of annual leave, and the opportunity to work on tooling that supports key industries.

Toolmaker responsibilities include -

  • Carry out maintenance and repairs on press tools to reduce downtime and cost.
  • Dismantle, assess, and reassemble tools to tight tolerances.
  • Estimate repair time and plan handovers for shift continuity.
  • Decide whether repairs can be done in-press or need toolroom work.
  • Liaise with press ops, maintenance, and team leaders for smooth workflow.
  • Complete accurate and detailed work reports after each task.

Toolmaker desirable skills and experience -

  • Experience working within a similar role (tooling Engineer, Machinist etc).
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings and press tool fault find.
  • Time served, or a manufacturing/mechanical engineering education.
