Job summary

Tec Partners Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Toolmaker in Essex to join a well-equipped workshop. The role focuses on tool manufacture, repair and modification of injection mould tools, with scope for progression into management responsibilities.

You will read drawings, operate Mills/Lathes/Grinders and Spark Eroders, and support CNC milling as required in a long-term, permanent role.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Toolmaking.
• Good bench fitting and bench work skills.
• Solid experience with injection mould tools.
• Experience operating manual Mills, Lathes and Grinders.
• Experience with manual Spark Erosion.
• Ability to read engineering drawings confidently.
• CAD experience.
• Wire erosion experience would be beneficial (training available).
• Previous CNC milling experience with Mazak/Mazatrol or Heidenhain advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and modifying injection mould tools.
• Manufacturing new mould tools to specification.
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
• Operating manual Mills, Lathes and Surface Grinders.
• Operating manual Spark Eroders.
• Supporting CNC milling operations where required.
• Taking ownership of tooling projects from initial requirements through to completion.
• Supporting wider projects as the business continues to develop.

Toolmaker

Location: Clacton-on-Sea

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum DOE

Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

We are recruiting an experienced Toolmaker to join an established engineering and manufacturing business based in Essex.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in injection mould toolmaking who is looking for a long-term position with genuine progression. As the business continues to grow, there is scope for the successful person to develop towards a position combining Toolmaking with additional management responsibilities.

The Role

You will be responsible for a mixture of tool manufacture, repair and modification, working across a well‑equipped engineering workshop.

• Repairing and modifying injection mould tools
• Manufacturing new mould tools to specification
• Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings
• Operating manual Mills, Lathes and Surface Grinders
• Operating manual Spark Eroders
• Supporting CNC milling operations where required
• Taking ownership of tooling projects from initial requirements through to completion
• Supporting wider projects as the business continues to develop

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Toolmaker who can demonstrate:

• Strong previous experience within Toolmaking
• Good bench fitting and bench work skills
• Solid experience with injection mould tools
• Experience operating manual Mills, Lathes and Grinders
• Experience with manual Spark Erosion
• Ability to confidently read engineering drawings
• CAD experience
• Experience with Wire Erosion would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
• Previous CNC milling experience, particularly with Mazak/Mazatrol or Heidenhain, would also be advantageous
