Job Overview:

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a passionate Tool Maker to join our Toolroom team. You will contribute to maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing tools to ensure efficient and safe operations. You’ll collaborate with operations and engineering teams, providing technical expertise to support production goals and increase reliability.

Responsibilities:
  1. Apply problem solving and continuous improvement techniques; recommend and implement improvements to maximise tooling availability, performance, quality, and reduce waste.
  2. Design, fabricate, and commission new jigs and fixtures to enhance process capability.
  3. Prioritise workload to ensure prompt response to breakdowns and complete PPM as scheduled.
  4. Perform reactive repairs on press tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts.
  5. Support new product introductions to meet operational requirements.
  6. Analyse tooling issues, faults, and causes; create effective PPM and TPM activities.
  7. Record all activities on CMMS.
  8. Source and procure spare components.
  9. Assist Production teams to meet daily targets.
  10. Support Maintenance Engineers with breakdowns, repairs, PPM, and installations on other equipment.

  • Good computer literacy.
Qualifications & Experience:

We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Essential qualifications include:

  • Apprenticeship as Mechanical Fitter, Machinist, or Toolmaker/NVQ Level 3 in relevant Engineering Skills/BTEC Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices in a machine shop environment.
  • Relevant toolmaking experience.
  • Experience with CNC lathe, CNC mill, and surface grinding.

Desirable skills include CAD, 3D modelling, Inventor, tooling design, wire eroder, spark eroder, and TIG/Jig welding experience.
