Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment are seeking an experienced Tool Maker to join their production engineering team in West Sussex. This hands-on role focuses on manufacturing specialist components and assemblies using traditional toolroom and manual machining techniques.

You will manufacture to engineering drawings, inspect first-offs, and support production with timely, accurate work while maintaining a clean, safe workshop.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Toolmaking or machining.
• Strong experience in a traditional toolroom environment.
• Competent with milling, turning and surface grinding.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Able to work independently and own tasks.
• Proactive, practical and hands-on problem solving.
• 2–3 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
• Experience with gearboxes and differentials advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture components and assemblies to drawings and specs.
• Use manual milling, turning, surface grinding and bench fitting.
• Inspect components, approve first-offs and maintain quality.
• Prioritise manufacturing requirements with the production team.
• Support workshop with modification of components and assemblies.
• Strip, assess and rebuild vehicle sub-assemblies as needed.
• Operate additional production machinery after training.

Location: Liss, West Sussex

Salary: £16.00-£21.00 per hour, depending on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Bennett and Game Recruitment are a well-established and highly specialised automotive engineering business based in West Sussex, with a strong reputation within the luxury vehicle sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Tool Maker to join their production engineering team. This is a hands-on position focused on manufacturing specialist components and assemblies using traditional toolroom and manual machining techniques.

Position Overview

• Manufacture components and assemblies to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Use manual milling, turning, surface grinding and bench fitting techniques.
• Inspect components, approve first-offs and maintain quality throughout production runs.
• Work with the production team to prioritise manufacturing requirements and schedules.
• Support the workshop with modification of components and assemblies.
• Strip, assess and rebuild vehicle sub-assemblies where required.
• Operate additional production machinery following appropriate training.
• Carry out general workshop duties including material preparation, cutting, deburring and hand finishing.
• Complete relevant production and inspection records.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.

Position Requirements

• Time-served apprenticeship in Toolmaking, Machining or a similar engineering discipline.
• Strong experience within a traditional toolroom environment.
• Competent with manual milling, turning and surface grinding.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
• Proactive, practical and hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Minimum 2-3 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
• Experience with gearboxes and differentials would be advantageous.

Position Benefits

• £16.00-£21.00 per hour, depending on experience.
• Monday to Friday 07:00 - 16:00.
