Job summary

Bristol Industrial is seeking a Tooling Engineer for an Exeter-based role. You will work from customer CAD drawings to engineer tooling models for testing, ensuring continuous improvement in production processes and solving manufacturing issues with CAD/CAE tools.

The ideal candidate has Tooling Engineer or Toolmaker background, CAD experience, and a recognised engineering qualification (degree or HNC) with around 4+ years in engineering. On-site role with a focus on practical tooling solutions.

• Tooling design or CAD experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency with CAE tools for CNC machining, CAD and 3D modelling.

Responsibilities

• Receive CAD drawings from customers and engineer models for testing.

ToolingEngineer

The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity within a leading Exeter based Engineering firm for an experienced Tooling Engineer or Toolmaker. YOu will not be produding designs yourself, but it is essential that you can read CAD drawings to assist in the production ofTooling solutionsfor the customers.Ideally HNC or Graduate level, or possibly having completed an apprenticeship, you will have a good appreciation of toolmaking with a practical application.

The Role:

• You will receive existing CAD drawings from your customer base and use your Tooling experience to engineer models for testing.
• Ensure the product and process area is always evolving in a state of continuous improvement, to allow our product to meet the challenges of the customers advanced designs and market differentiation.
• Apply your comprehensive understanding of production planning, control and basic manufacturing systems in order to reduce product related scrap and rework through root cause analysis.
• Troubleshooting manufacturing problems and undertaking root cause analysis with a good understanding of CNC machining, CAD and/or 3D modelling essential.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous experience as a Tooling Engineer, Toolmaker or similar absolutely essential.
• Tooling design and/or CAD experience useful.
• Proficiency in using CAE tools for CNC machining, CAD, and 3D modelling.
• Degree/HNC or equivalent in Engineering discipline plus 4 years applicable engineering experience.
