Job summary

Modis is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer for a long-term contract based in Bolton, with on-site work required two days per week. You will deliver innovative tool designs, collaborate with stakeholders, and re-engineer existing solutions while managing your own timelines to meet deadlines.

Ideal candidates have HNC/HND, strong 3D modelling (CREO), and solid drawing production with knowledge of BS8888, ISO 1101, ISO 5459, and GD&T standards.

Qualifications

• Ideally HNC/HND qualification with significant experience in Tool Design and Definition.
• Significant experience in 3D modelling and evaluating 3D models quality (CREO advantageous).
• Ability to translate design intent from 3D models into 2D/3D definitions (CREO preferred).
• Strong engineering drawing skills with high attention to detail.
• Knowledge of BS8888, ISO 1101, ISO 5459, and GD&T standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence.

Overview of department:

The Tool Design Team is at the heart of a rapidly evolving and high demand sector, delivering smart, adaptable tooling solutions across a wide range of aerospace projects.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver practical and innovative tool design solutions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals
• Re-engineer existing solutions updating models, configuration and associated documentation.
• Manage your own project timelines and priorities ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.

Skillset/experience required:

• Ideally HNC/HND qualified with significant experience in Tool Design and Definition
• Must have a significant amount of 3D modelling experience and be able to assess 3D models for their quality. Experience in 3D annotations would be a distinct advantage (preferably CREO)
• Ability to translate design intent from 3D models into high quality 2D/3D definitions (preferably CREO)
• Strong background in the production of engineering drawings with high attention to detail
• Knowledge of BS8888 Technical product documentation and specification, ISO 1101 Geometrical product specifications, ISO 5459 Datum and datum systems and similar standards and GD & T
• Great communication skills with the drive and initiative to influence a network of stakeholders
