Job summary

Catering in Shropshire is hiring a Tool Maker for day shifts (7am-3pm Mon-Thu, 7am-12pm Fri) at their Shifnal facility. Responsibilities include tool preparation, maintenance, issue resolution, safety, and supporting engineering changes.

The candidate should have at least an Apprenticeship and be familiar with die casting processes. Permanent role with salary £43,424 per annum.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Apprenticeship in tooling or a related field.
• Familiar with die casting processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain tooling according to requirements.
• Identify day-to-day tooling issues and implement corrective action where required.
• Clean production tooling to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence.
• Ensure tooling is safe and production ready following PM process.
• Advise Leader when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
• Support coordination of engineering changes and spare parts maintenance.
• Prepare and tests tools by layout/setup/machining.
• May design tools/templates to produce prototype parts and generate BOM.
• Verify conformance of machined/repaired tools by checking dimensions/clearances/alignments.
• Fit and assemble parts and test tools for proper operation.
• Set up and monitor tools and perform inspections prior to removal from machine.
• Follow up repair work by obtaining feedback and recording work undertaken.
• Promote the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant.

Tool Maker – Days – 7am-3pm Monday-Thursday and 7am-12pm Fridays

A recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their Tooling department with the appointment of a Tool Maker. Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the Tool Maker will be responsible for:

• Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
• Effectively identifies day to day tooling issues and implements corrective action where required.
• Cleaning of all production tooling to ensure on time delivery and schedule adherence goals are met.
• Ensures all tooling is safe and production ready at the time returned for production use, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) process.
• Ensures Leader is advised when assignments cannot be completed as planned.
• Supports coordination of engineering changes and supports maintenance of spare parts.
• Prepares and tests tools by laying out / setting up / machining.
• May design / make tools / templates to produce prototype parts of various materials including generating bill of material and complete fabrication and validation.
• Verifies conformance of machined and/or repaired tools to specifications by checking dimensions / clearances / alignments.
• May make parts of various plant machines and tools as required.
• Fits and assembles parts and test completed tools for proper operation.
• Sets up and carefully monitors tools and performs inspections prior to removing tooling from the machine.
• Follow up repair work by seeking feedback from the production and quality departments and completing a record of the work undertaken.
• Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant.
