Job summary

Probe UK is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to maintain and repair injection moulding tooling in a busy manufacturing environment. You will support production tooling, including hot runner systems, and carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.

Based in/around Telford, you’ll work with hydraulic and pneumatic tooling, use lathes, milling machines and grinders, and plan jobs with the right tools and spares. Right to work in the UK required.

Qualifications

• apprenticeship or equivalent engineering training.
• Experience with injection moulding tooling and hot runner systems.
• Ability to diagnose problems and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Keep production tooling running smoothly.
• Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs.
• Service, maintain and repair injection moulding tools.
• Diagnose and resolve tooling breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Work with sequential gate hot runner and hydraulic/pneumatic tooling systems.
• Operate lathes, milling machines and surface grinders as needed.
• Plan jobs and ensure tools, equipment and spares are available.

Are you an experienced Tooling Engineer / Toolmaker with hands-on experience maintaining and repairing injection moulding tooling?

Were looking for a skilled engineer to join the Tooling team, working on a wide range of injection moulding tools, hot runner systems and tooling equipment in a busy manufacturing environment.

Commutable from Wolverhampton, Oswestry, Market Drayton, Shrewsbury, Rugeley, Cannock, Telford, Bridgnorth, Stafford and Penkridge

Duties

• Youll be responsible for keeping production tooling running smoothly
• Carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs, diagnosing breakdowns and supporting new tool and product trials.
• Servicing, maintaining and repairing injection moulding tools
• Diagnosing and resolving tooling breakdowns to minimise production downtime
• Working with sequential gate hot runner systems
• Working with hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders associated with tooling and hot runner systems
• Using lathes, milling machines and surface grinding equipment
• Basic electrical knowledge relating to tool heating and controls
• Planning jobs and ensuring the correct tools, equipment and spares are available
• Supporting production during new tool and product trials

Requirements

• Mechanical / fitting apprenticeship or equivalent engineering training
• Previous experience working with injection moulding tooling
• Good knowledge of hot runner systems, ideally sequential gate systems
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic tooling systemsPractical workshop experience using lathes, milling machines and surface grinders
• Basic electrical understanding
• Ability to diagnose problems and work efficiently under pressure
• Crane operating experience would be advantageous, but not essential
