Tools Development Engineer (Metrology) – On-site | Broughton

£36.70 per hour via Umbrella + Overtime Uplift

Full-time on-site in Broughton – 35-hour week over 4.5 days

Contract until end of 2025 | Inside IR35

Support a major aerospace ramp-up programme within a world-class facility

ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our client is a global leader in the aerospace sector, delivering critical wing structures and tooling solutions for some of the most advanced commercial aircraft. With increasing demand at their Broughton site, they are seeking aTools Development Engineer (Metrology)to join their engineering function, supporting the ramp-up of Single Aisle (SA) production.

THE TOOLS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER ROLE:

As a Tools Development Engineer, you’ll lead the industrialisation and development of jigs and tooling to support aircraft production, ensuring technical alignment with operations, metrology requirements, and Airbus’ industrial roadmap. You’ll interpret aircraft design models, define tooling certification processes, and generate all necessary technical assessments and documentation throughout the tool lifecycle.

TOOLS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of jig and tool development within manufacturing engineering
  • Working knowledge of metrology and aircraft production systems
  • Ability to operate from first principles in technical manufacturing environments
  • Familiar with engineering processes, procedures, and production investigations
  • Experience with manufacturing engineering business systems (e.g., CAD, MRP/ERP tools)
  • Self-motivated with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Background in aerospace or precision manufacturing preferred
