Job summary

The University of Leicester’s Leicester ECMC seeks a Translational Research Technician to support tissue collection for clinical studies and early‑phase trials across Leicester hospital sites.

You will obtain consent, collect samples in operating theatres and clinics, and process them to GCLP standards, while helping to maintain facilities and train staff in tissue handling and storage.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. BTEC or ONC).
• Experience in a technical or clinical role involving human tissue samples.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements including Good Clinical Practice, The Human Tissue Act and health and laboratory safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Support tissue collection activities for clinical research studies and early-phase trials across Leicester hospital sites.
• Obtain consent to research studies from patients and volunteers.
• Collect samples from operating theatres and clinics; process samples in accordance with GCLP standards and SOPs.
• Maintain laboratory facilities and monitor equipment.
• Support training for staff and students in tissue handling and storage.
