Job summary

The University of Oxford’s Sample Handling Laboratory, Churchill Hospital, Oxford, is recruiting a dedicated laboratory assistant to receive and process clinical samples for cancer trials in line with established protocols.

You will perform centrifugation and separation of plasma/serum and white cells, with a flexible rota and occasional late processing. An NHS Honorary Contract is required to undertake this role, and applicants should live within commuting distance of Oxford.

Qualifications

• Educated to A-level standard or equivalent.
• Good manual dexterity, accuracy and laboratory experience.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process clinical samples according to laboratory protocols.
• Perform centrifugation and separation of plasma/serum and white cells as required.
