Duration: Permanent.
Location: This role is based in QMK. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered. For Quadrant:MK, you must live within 75 (Band 5+)/90 minutes (Band 1-4) of The Quadrant.
Band & Salary: 4B £35,582 - £40,830
Closing date: May 2025. On occasions, we may need to close the advert early based upon application volumes. Late applications may not be accepted.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive individual to undertake detailed performance simulations of timetables as well as providing analytical support through accurate performance modelling and analysis to help drive the understanding and improvement in train punctuality and reliability across the timetable development process. Maintain and contribute to the improvement of models, analysis techniques and tools used to understand timetable & train performance. We are looking for someone to air evidenced based opinions in the pursuit of a performant timetable.
About the role (External)
What does the average day look like?
In this role you will support the development and iteration of timetable options to deliver Capacity Planning objectives. You will do this by modelling complex train timetables to identify potential plan defects, determine improvements, and report to the relevant stakeholders within the overall objective of delivering and maintaining high performing train plans. You will be applying Network Rails Modelling Standards to simulation modelling to deliver successful projects.
Essential Criteria
• Intermediate / advanced knowledge of appropriate Microsoft IT packages
• Strong analytical / statistical skills or aptitude
• Ability to analyse and solve modelling & analytical problems and to accurately interpret results
• Experience in presenting and adjusting presentation style to differing audiences
• Good communication skills, both written and oral, able to communicate technical and management aspects of work to a senior audience
• Ability to work within a team
We would also like, but not essential.
• Experience of using Performance Modelling / Simulation packages i.e., Railsys
• Awareness of data science techniques to support analysis.
• Degree level qualification in a numerate or analytical discipline or relevant rail industry experience
• Knowledge of rail performance management systems
• Awareness of Transport modelling theory / method, data collection, analytical techniques and appraisal methods.
