  • Duration: Permanent.
  • Location: This role is based in QMK. This is a full-time opportunity, with flexible working patterns considered. For Quadrant:MK, you must live within 75 (Band 5+)/90 minutes (Band 1-4) of The Quadrant.
  • Band & Salary: 4B £35,582 - £40,830
  • Closing date: May 2025. The advert may close early based on application volumes. Late applications may not be accepted.
  • Next Steps: Interviews will be held on 2nd or 5th June 2025, subject to change based on business needs.
Who are we looking for?

We seek an enthusiastic and inquisitive individual to undertake detailed performance simulations of timetables and provide analytical support through accurate performance modelling and analysis. The role involves understanding and improving train punctuality and reliability across the timetable development process, maintaining and improving models, analysis techniques, and tools.

About the role (External)
What does the average day look like?

You will support the development and iteration of timetable options to meet Capacity Planning objectives by modelling complex train timetables, identifying potential issues, suggesting improvements, and reporting to stakeholders. Applying Network Rail's Modelling Standards to simulation modelling is essential to deliver successful projects.

Essential Criteria
  • Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Microsoft IT packages
  • Strong analytical / statistical skills
  • Ability to analyse and solve modelling & analytical problems and interpret results accurately
  • Experience in presenting and tailoring communication to different audiences
  • Good written and oral communication skills, capable of explaining technical and management aspects to senior audiences
  • Ability to work within a team
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Performance Modelling / Simulation packages (e.g., Railsys)
  • Knowledge of data science techniques for analysis support
  • Degree in a numerate or analytical discipline or relevant rail industry experience
  • Knowledge of rail performance management systems
  • Understanding of transport modelling theory, data collection, and analytical techniques
