Job summary

Simply Jobsworth in West Midlands is seeking an experienced Timber Sales Manager to lead an internal sales team and drive growth in timber, hardwoods and related products. You will develop sales strategies, manage key accounts, monitor margins and deliver against targets and KPIs in a fast-paced, commercial environment.

Salary £50,000-£60,000 + bonus and benefits, permanent role. Excellent leadership, negotiation and market-analysis skills are essential, with a track record of growing revenue

TIMBER SALES MANAGER

Location: West Midlands
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

A leading and well-established distributor within the timber, hardwood and panel products sector is looking to appoint an experienced Timber Sales Manager to lead an established internal sales team and drive continued commercial growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales professional with a strong background in timber, hardwoods, sheet materials, builders' merchants or associated construction products. The successful candidate will combine strong leadership skills with commercial awareness and a proven ability to deliver sales and margin targets.

The Role

As Timber Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and performance of the internal sales function. You will lead, motivate and develop the team while ensuring high levels of customer service, sales performance and profitability are consistently maintained.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading, coaching and developing an established sales team
• Driving sales growth and profitability across the timber product range
• Managing and developing key customer relationships
• Identifying new business opportunities and potential areas for market growth
• Managing stock profiles in line with customer requirements and demand
• Monitoring sales activity, margins and overall commercial performance
• Producing regular reports and analysing sales and market trends
• Supporting pricing, negotiation and commercial decision-making
• Working closely with senior management to implement business growth strategies
• Ensuring the sales team consistently delivers against agreed targets and KPIs

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Commercial Manager or similar senior sales position, ideally within the timber, builders' merchant, construction products or building materials sector.

You will have:

• Strong knowledge of timber, hardwoods, sheet materials or related products
• A proven track record of achieving sales, revenue and margin targets
• Experience managing, motivating and developing a sales team
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Excellent customer relationship management abilities
• A proactive approach to identifying and developing new business
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• The ability to analyse sales data and identify opportunities for growth
• A results-driven approach with the ability to work in a fast-paced commercial environment
