Job summary

Dell Technologies in London, United Kingdom, is seeking a Thermal Architect to join the Engineering Technologist team. You will design and optimize liquid cooling, air cooling and thermal systems for data centers, collaborating with global teams to translate requirements into robust thermal solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 7 years of related experience, with strong knowledge of heat transfer, CFD/FEA tools, and thermal testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on thermal science, fluid dynamics or heat transfer. 7 years of related experience (can be offset with an advanced degree).
• Advanced working knowledge of heat transfer and the ability to analyze component /system level problems and apply advanced cooling technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of thermal testing, flow and thermal measurement techniques, and the use of FEA, CAD & CFD tools to help optimize and guide thermal solutions. Ability to optimize thermal solutions for operating environments, business needs, and product requirements is a core requirement.
• Must have the ability to collaborate with Dell’s technology partners and supply base on cutting edge technology development. Ability to work with ODMs on mechanical, thermal & electrical aspects of system design.
• Must have the ability to understand competitive and business needs while developing technical solutions. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the tolerance control requirements for high volume production environments, and author architecture specification to be a guiding light for development of future products.

Responsibilities

• Productize solution /configuration working with customers across L10 and L11. Work with US, EMEA & APJ customers in defining their datacenter cooling facility requirement and incorporating them into design.
