Job description

This post is for a Band 3 Therapy Technician at UHCW NHS Trust. The role is within the Inpatient therapy teams. As part of this role, there is an expectation that you will rotate between our Inpatient services, including but not limited to Medicine, Care of the Elderly, and Surgery teams. The rotations will be for 1 year in each area.

Under the supervision of a Registered Therapist, the post holder will be expected to plan and prioritize their workload and contribute to the effective and efficient running of the therapy service. The post holder will work independently to assess, plan, and carry out activities with patients within their scope of practice. They will also assist in administration and clerical duties within the department and be involved in the training and development of students and staff.

Responsibilities include:
  1. To treat patients following protocols delegated to them, such as walking aid assessments, treatment progression, participation in group work, activities of daily living, personal care, and individual activities as part of ongoing treatment. Tasks undertaken will be within their training scope.
  2. To independently develop and provide exercise programs for individual patients, with guidance from a registered therapist where appropriate.
  3. To use knowledge of common physical, mental, and behavioral health conditions to recognize deterioration in service users and escalate concerns promptly to a registered practitioner.
