Job summary

University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a proactive Technical Instructor to develop rehabilitation skills within the community stroke therapy pathway. Driving licence and access to a car are essential for community travel.

You will support therapists, manage a caseload, and work with the team to deliver ICSRS services, contributing to audits and inter-professional practice. Regular supervision and in-service training are provided.

Qualifications

• GCSE English at grade C/4 or above or evidence of good literacy.
• GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above or evidence of good numeracy.
• Car owner and Full UK driving licence.
• Relevant NHS/UK health care experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for qualified staff in clinical and non-clinical tasks within the stroke community therapy service.
• Deliver therapy input to patients delegated by therapists and manage an individual caseload.
• Work without direct supervision, under guidance of qualified staff on treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
• Operate within protocols and competencies specific to this post.
• Assist the team in planning, coordinating and delivering therapy services on ICSRS.
• Contribute to evidence-based audits and research to inform clinical practice.
• Engage in inter-professional collaboration within the directorate.
• Perform administrative tasks as required and participate in supervision and in-service training.
• Flexibly support across the stroke pathway and assist the Acute Stroke Therapy Team when needed.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Technical Instructor who is interested in developing their rehabilitation skills within the community stroke therapy pathway.

The  ICSRS  is a service commissioned by Cheshire and Merseyside  ICS  and delivered by University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM).

The  ICSRS  will be delivered to the population of Eastern Cheshire to support more timely discharges from the acute hospital setting, to deliver care closer to home and it will address the physical, psychological and social wellbeing needs of the population.

Driving license and access to car are essential for this post, as travel in the community will be required.

Main duties of the job

• To provide support for qualified staff in a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks as part of the stroke community therapy service.
• To provide therapy input to patients delegated by therapists and carry patient caseload within agreed guidelines, to manage own daily caseload to ensure an effective and efficient service is offered.
• To work without direct supervision, but under the guidance of the qualified staff in the performance of specific tasks for an individual or group of patients, as part of their treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
• To work within protocols and competencies specific to this post.
• To undertake an active role in supporting, the team to plan, co‑ordinate and deliver therapy services on the  ICSRS.
• Contribute to evidence‑based audit and research projects to further own and the teams' clinical practice.
• To be an active participant in the inter‑professional working of our directorate.
• The successful candidate will have the ability to carry out some administrative tasks as required.
• You will receive regular supervision and take an active role in attending our Technical Instructor in service training programme.
• To work flexibly across the stroke pathway and provide support to the Acute Stroke Therapy Team when required

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• GCSE English Grace C/ 4 or above or evidence of good literacy
• GCSE Maths Grace C/4 or above or evidence of good numeracy
• Car owner & Full UK driving licence

• Therapy/Health based competencies
• A Level/NVQ Qualification
• Qualification within health/social or sports environment
