Job summary

Ripplevale School Rochester is seeking a dedicated Therapy Assistant to join our supportive team and help learners develop skills and coping strategies under the guidance of therapists.

You will work within a Multi-Disciplinary Team, implementing person-centred approaches based on each learner's EHCP and ILP, to promote independence and positive outcomes in education and daily life.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability.
  • Can collaborate effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Some knowledge or experience in therapies within an educational or care setting (desirable).
  • Holds a relevant qualification or is willing to undertake training.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of therapy-led interventions on a one-to-one basis and in group settings.
  • Execute tailored strategies aligned with EHCP outcomes.
  • Assist learners in developing motor, sensory, self-regulation and daily living skills.
  • Monitor and document progress; provide feedback to therapists and the wider team.

Job description

Ripplevale School and College is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to join our supportive and progressive team.

As Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in developing the skills and coping strategies that enable learners to excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist and the Speech and Language Therapist, you will assist learners in accessing educational opportunities, developing independence, and pursuing their individual aspirations and outcomes.

You will collaborate as an integral member of our dynamic Multi-Disciplinary Team to implement person-centred strategies and support learners in achieving the objectives outlined in their Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Your work will be informed by each learner's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) as well as the professional recommendations provided by the Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of Therapy-led interventions, both on a one-to-one basis and in group settings.
  • Execute tailored strategies and activities that are aligned with the outcomes specified in EHCPs.
  • Assist learners in developing fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and daily living skills.
  • Monitor and document progress, providing feedback to the Occupational Therapist and the Speech and Language Therapist and the wider team.
  • Promote independence and well-being within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
We are seeking an individual who
  • Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, patience, and adaptability.
  • Can effectively collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Possesses some knowledge or experience in therapies within an educational or care setting (desirable but not essential).
  • Holds a relevant qualification or is willing to undertake necessary training.
