We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our Learning Support team supporting our Speech & Language Therapists in delivering our Speech, Language and Communication service at The Woodlands Centre, Merrist Wood College and Guildford College.
As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with the speech and language therapists to support them to run small group sessions e.g. Lego groups, including delivering these sessions independently. You will be required to programme AAC devices and support with making resources and running social groups under the supervision of the speech and language therapist. Therapy is highly integrated, and there may be times that you will be required to support delivery of Occupational Therapy e.g. during joint therapy groups.
This is a permanent, part-time role working 30 hours per week during term-time (0.68 FTE).
You will have experience of working with SEND learners and of working in a total communication approach environment or with learners that use alternative methods of communication. Ideally, you will also have previous experience of creating individual or bespoke resources and writing social stories.
You will be an excellent communicator and have a strong team-work ethos working closely with both Group learning support and faculty staff. Digital literacy and strong organisational skills are essential.
