Job summary

Active Care Group is seeking a Therapy Assistant in Gateshead to support therapists in neurorehabilitation, working in the Neuro Hub and clients' homes across the community. A full UK driving licence and vehicle access are essential for this role.

You will handle a diverse caseload, contribute to high-quality care, and participate in training and development opportunities offered by the Active Learning Hub. DBS clearance will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in neurorehabilitation settings preferred.
• Experience with catastrophic injuries/polytrauma advantageous.
• Knowledge of medico-legal systems is a plus.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

As a Therapy Assistant, you will play a key role in treating, and supporting therapists with individuals with a wide range of conditions, helping them to achieve their maximum potential. This role offers a diverse caseload, working within our cutting-edge Neuro Hub and delivering high-quality therapy to clients in their homes and communities, and therefore a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role. The Role:

Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Following a comprehensive treatment programme designed by therapists to treat clients following life changing catastrophic injury
• Manage own caseload working as an autonomous practitioner
• Demonstrate empathy with distressed clients, carers/ families and colleagues, ensuring that effective communication is achieved, particularly where barriers to understanding exist
• Undertake continuous professional development and invest in the team by promoting excellent skills and embedding innovation
• As a Therapy Assistant you have an opportunity to apply to a degree apprenticeship in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy following 2 years of service.

About You:

• Previous work experience working with people with catastrophic injuries
• Experience of working within a neurorehabilitation setting
• Polytrauma / amputee experience would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of the medico-legal system would be an advantage
• Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
• Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
