This role is based at Oversands School.

Oversands School is an independent specialist day school providing high quality education, based in Grange-over-Sands. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviours.

“Here we know every pupil, their story, how we can help and importantly how they can succeed.” This statement is brought to life through a dedicated lower school designed with input from the pupils; an upper school offering a broad range of subjects; and a vocational and post-16 provision with extensive courses led by experts.

Our clinicians are a crucial part of the most joined-up model in SEND. Across all our specialist schools and children’s homes, we provide unrivalled clinical support, expertise, and breadth of provision. Our young people present with complex needs including developmental trauma, neuro-developmental conditions, and SEN.

As part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, you will support educational and residential colleagues to create therapeutic living and learning environments, offering individualised interventions based on clinical assessment and formulation. You’ll assess mental health and recommend appropriate interventions in personalized care plans. Building rapport is key to delivering effective counselling and providing feedback on progress.

What we do for you

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we reward you with a competitive salary and benefits package. With us, you’ll make a genuine difference to the lives of our young people, and enjoy:

  • Training: Full induction and on-the-job training
  • Holiday: Full school holidays, including bank holidays
  • Clinical Development: Leading programmes of clinical learning and development
  • Flexible benefits: Options to adjust benefits such as life insurance
  • Wellbeing: Wellbeing tools and employee assistance
  • Medical cover: Reimbursements for opticians, dentists, and more
  • High-street discounts: Various discounts available
  • Facilities: Beautiful working environments with excellent facilities

We also offer a recommend-a-friend scheme with a £1,000 bonus per referral.

Bring your whole self to work

This is a great opportunity to change young lives and have a positive impact on their future. Supported by a team of over 220 multidisciplinary clinical colleagues, you’ll have resources, supervision, and development opportunities to excel. Here’s what we need from you:

  • As a qualified professional or accredited Counsellor, you’ll be eligible for BACP membership or similar (additional mental health or therapeutic qualifications are desirable).
  • Well-versed in child development and skilled at connecting with young people.
  • Highly organized and proactive.
  • Honest and empathetic, caring deeply about our young people and colleagues.
