Job summary

The Witherslack Group is seeking a Therapist for Avon Park School in Coventry, West Midlands. This full-time role supports children and young people with complex needs through therapeutic living and learning environments.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary clinical team to deliver individualised interventions based on clinical assessment. Experience in child development, empathy and strong organization are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified professional (or accredited Counsellor) eligible for membership of a professional body (e.g. BACP)
• Strong understanding of child development and ability to connect with young people
• Highly organised and proactive with good initiative
• Honesty and empathy as essential traits

This role is based at Avon Park School.

Avon Park School is an independent specialist day school providing high quality education for boys and girls. Based in Rugby, the school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils who have a range of complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.

Our clinicians are a crucial part of the most joined-up model in SEND. Across all of our specialist schools and children's homes, we provide unrivalled levels of clinical support, both in terms of our expertise and breadth of provision. Our young people present with a complexity of need including developmental trauma, neuro-developmental conditions and special educational needs.

As part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team you will be supporting educational and residential colleagues to provide therapeutic living and learning environments and based on clinical assessment and formulation, offer individualised interventions and engagement to our young people. You'll also be assessing our young people's mental health and recommend appropriate interventions in a personalised care plan. Building rapport is key, by doing this you'll be able to deliver effective counselling and feedback on progress.
