Job summary

Advocates is a nonprofit organization providing in-home therapy, therapeutic mentoring, and behavioral services for children and families. The team operates in home and community settings, focusing on coaching, skills-building, and collaborative treatment planning.

Positions require an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, 21+ years of age, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a valid driver’s license for client transportation.

Qualifications

• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Engage youth in social, recreational, athletic, and artistic activities in the community and in their homes.
• Participate in provider team meetings and collaborate with youth, family, and collaterals to support healthy functioning.
• Implement interventions to support youth and family.
• Provide member transportation as needed for service delivery.
• Assist in coordinating treatment planning and intensive family therapy.
• Provide coaching to support decision making in crises and non-crisis situations.
• Attend care planning, school, and hospital discharge meetings.
• Provide referrals and linkage to supports and services.
• Conduct member outreach as needed to engage members and families.
• Evenings and at least one weekend day required.

Overview

Starting Rate: $20.42/hour

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm with availability at least two nights per week until 8 pm.

Join our team! Advocates is seeking empathetic, compassionate, driven professionals to offer clinical and supportive services to children and families. We support children and families in managing a wide range of challenges through our In Home Therapy, Therapeutic Mentoring, and In Home Behavioral Services programs.

Our Therapeutic Youth Support staff work with children and adolescents up to age 21 through activities in homes and in the community. Services include supporting, coaching, and training children in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, and relating to other children, adolescents, and adults. You will have the opportunity to be part of a treatment team, to utilize your skills and knowledge, and to learn new strategies. We offer a collaborative team environment, weekly individual supervision, and monthly training and group supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree from an accredited institution, counseling or related field required with one year minimum experience working with children/families and adolescents in child development, childhood mental illness, and family issues.
• Candidate must be 21 years or older
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and providers.
• High energy level, superior interpersonal skills and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
• Must hold a valid driver's license, have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.
• Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving diverse populations.
