Justteachers Ltd, in partnership with a specialist school in Great Yarmouth, is seeking a dedicated Therapeutic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.   • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Two recent education-based references.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic and educational support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive, trusting, and consistent relationships with pupils.
  • Support pupils in managing their emotions, behaviour, and social interactions.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to deliver personalised learning and support strategies.
  • Assist pupils in accessing learning activities both within and outside of the classroom.
  • Promote emotional regulation, resilience, self-esteem, and positive coping strategies.
  • Support the implementation of individual behaviour support plans and therapeutic interventions.
  • Help create a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and celebrate pupil achievements and progress.
  • Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, enrichment activities, and educational visits.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing where required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff, parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour using agreed strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and pupil welfare at all times.
  • Uphold the school's values and therapeutic approach to education.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships, and develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their full potential.
