Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust's Berkshire Cancer Centre in Reading/Bracknell is seeking a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer to deliver high-quality radiotherapy, lead clinical areas and support service development with a patient-centred focus.

You will work within a progressive radiotherapy team, supervise students, contribute to quality improvement projects, and participate in on-call rotations. The post offers strong CPD and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of College of Radiographers.
  • State Registration with the appropriate regulatory body.
  • Defined specialist practice area with caseload management.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and further study.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality radiotherapy treatments using modern technologies.
  • Support Band 7 Radiographers and senior leaders in service delivery.
  • Act as an Operator under IR(ME)R regulations for safe treatment delivery.
  • Lead clinical areas and supervise junior staff in absence of seniors.
  • Contribute to governance, quality improvement, and departmental projects.
  • Support education, supervision and assessment of students and learners.
  • Maintain professional competencies through CPD and development opportunities.
  • Participate in shift systems and on-call arrangements as required.

Job description

As a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care while supporting service development, workforce education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team in an environment that actively encourages professional growth and innovation.

  • Deliver high-quality radiotherapy treatments using a range of modern technologies and advanced treatment techniques.
  • Support Band 7 Radiographers and senior leaders in the delivery and development of radiotherapy services across Reading and Bracknell.
  • Act as an Operator under IR(ME)R regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment delivery.
  • Lead clinical areas and support junior staff in the absence of senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to maintaining the highest professional, technical, and governance standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and patient-centred care.
  • Participate in service development, quality improvement, and departmental projects.
  • Support the education, supervision, and assessment of students, apprentices, preceptorship radiographers, and other learners.
  • Maintain and develop professional competencies through continuing professional development.
  • Participate in departmental shift systems and on-call arrangements as required.
