Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a Family Time Worker to support children placed in local authority foster care. You will help children understand their birth identity and supervise time with birth parents, maintaining professional boundaries with vulnerable families.

The role covers Cannock and The Old House in Lichfield on a fixed-term basis for 12 months, with a weekend rota (1 in 4 weekends) and evening work as required.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience.
• Experience of direct work with children, their families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency serving vulnerable children.
• Understanding of child development and impact of stress and trauma on development.
• Understanding of policies, guidance, and legislation governing children's social care.
• Must have unrestricted car use and a driving licence.
• Be flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Good communication with children, families and carers; ability to build relationships and deliver interventions.
• Experience with IT including Microsoft packages is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate therapeutic family time between children and their parents or other family members.
• Coordinate arrangements for family time for children and their parents or other family members as directed by court.
• Transport children and young people to attend family time.
• Provide parenting support and guidance during family time.
• Support the completion of accurate documentation, reports and records relating to children and families.
• Be available outside traditional hours including evenings and weekends to support children, families and carers when needed.
