Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council's Children’s Social Care is seeking a dedicated practitioner to visit families and provide therapeutic, relationship-based support to strengthen wellbeing. You will help parents regulate emotions and understand how past experiences affect today’s family life, while offering practical assistance and connecting families with local resources.

Responsibilities

• Visit parents and families to explore their experiences and build confidence and wellbeing through therapeutic, relationship-based approaches.
• Support parents with emotional regulation, relationships and how past experiences affect family life today.
• Give practical, hands-on support such as establishing routines, attending appointments and connecting families with community resources.
• Work with a parent and child together to strengthen their relationship and practise new ways of responding to difficult moments.
• Work with families to overcome barriers that could lead to family breakdown or children coming into or at risk of coming into care.
• Meet social workers and other professionals to share progress and plan what a family needs.
• Build trusted relationships with families and support parents to make changes that last beyond professional involvement.
