Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Family Practitioner to support children and families, delivering tailored interventions and building plans centered on each child’s needs. You’ll collaborate with Social Workers and other professionals to empower families and keep children safe at home.

The role emphasizes strengths-based Hampshire Approach, practical support, relationship-building, and solution-focused work to help families overcome challenges and build on their strengths.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Skilled in mediation and managing challenging situations.
• Ability to produce clear reports and use IT systems confidently.
• Flexible, adaptable and committed to inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with children, parents and carers to provide practical and emotional support.
• Arrange resources and help families access services such as transport, care and housing.
• Build positive relationships and work collaboratively with professionals.
• Use mediation and negotiation skills to improve family relationships.
• Undertake assessments and Children in Need visits alongside Social Workers.
• Prepare clear reports and maintain accurate records.
