Job summary

Hampshire County Council's Swanwick Lodge seeks a caring professional to act as a therapeutic caregiver for children with complex needs. You will form trusted relationships, work with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in structured activities to support each child’s recovery.

The role includes a four-week induction and mandatory training, with a shift pattern including alternate weekends, early/late shifts, and sleep-in duties. Right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Emotionally intelligent and resilient; patient, empathetic and understanding.
• Experience with children, young people or adults within a residential, secure or similar setting is an advantage.
• Willing to complete induction and mandatory training; right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Act as a 'therapeutic parent' and role-model to our children; form positive, trusting relationships.
• Work with on-site education and health and wellbeing teams; engage in activities of interest to children and staff.
• Be patient, kind and respectful, even in face of challenging behaviour.
• Complete induction and mandatory training in the first four weeks of employment.
