Job summary

Hampshire County Council's Swanwick Lodge in Southampton is seeking a Secure Children's Home Support Worker to join a dedicated team. You will act as a therapeutic parent, building trusted relationships with up to ten children with complex needs, providing a safe, structured environment and ensuring high standards of care.

The role includes alternating weekend shifts with early/late patterns, sleep-in duties, and a thorough induction with mandatory training.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people or adults in residential/secure settings is an advantage.
• Emotionally intelligent, resilient, patient and empathetic.
• Ability to be consistent, kind and respectful under challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Act as a 'therapeutic parent' and role-model for children to feel safe and cared for.
• Work with on-site education and health/wellbeing teams and engage in activities with the children.
• Complete induction and mandatory training during the first four weeks.
• Carry out shift patterns including alternate weekends with early/late shifts and sleep-in duties.
