Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Theatres team at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington. This full-time role involves 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern to support patient care in the theatres department.

Salary is £24,947 per year, with a comprehensive benefits package including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, a private pension scheme, private healthcare, and staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels.
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
