Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic theatre department orderly to join the Prince Philip Hospital main theatre. You will support the surgical team, escort patients, assist with equipment and maintain a clean and safe theatre environment.

Full training and induction will be provided; prior operating theatre or healthcare experience is advantageous. Welsh or English speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in operating theatre or healthcare is advantageous but full training will be provided.
• Induction programme will be completed on joining the team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team in transferring patients using prescribed manual handling techniques.
• Escort patients to the theatre unit prior to surgery.
• Escort post-surgical patients to the ward with the support of trained staff.
• Clean the theatre environment between patient procedures.
• Assist with daily operating theatre tasks such as collection and handover of medications, notes, equipment and other supplies.
• Support the upkeep of the operating department and its storage areas.
• Restock the linen trolley and staff scrub suits as required.
• Support the theatre practitioner in positioning patients on the operating table.
• Assist the theatre team by supporting patient limbs during surgical preparation.
