Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Theatre Scrub Practitioner (Band 5) to deliver high-quality perioperative care across General operating theatres. The role covers elective and emergency procedures including robotic surgery and multiple specialties, with emphasis on asepsis, instrumentation and safety checks.

Qualifications

• UK recognised qualification in Adult Nursing or Operating Department Practice.
• Active registration with the NMC or HCPC.
• Previous scrub experience in an operating theatre.
• Ability to keep up to date with professional issues impacting practice.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and provide safe scrub assistance across general theatre procedures.
• Prepare and manage instrumentation, implants, devices and equipment for procedures.
• Accurately perform instrument, needle and swab counts and support perioperative safety checks.
• Assist with patient positioning, transfer and theatre preparation.
• Contribute to audit, service improvement and research-based practice.
